At the moment I have palm Centro which I synchronizes with palmDesktop (calendar, contacts, memoes, tasks). palmDesktop can also be used as a stand alone app and is really very good.
Next I will buy a Nokia N900 and I’m looking for a sync tool (not PC Suite with Outlook) which runs on Win XP or Win7. Could you please tell me if there is something like this existing or planed???

As I requested earlier, a way for synchronization apps like Conduit (Gnome) to hook in. That way, if e.g Conduit has synchronization from/to media players, email clients working, hooking into Synchro could make synchronization between all these work.

My limited knowledge would suggest an interface through dbus, or something similar.

Sure, we discussed this a lot, and plugins for amarok and banshee will be done as well. The Synchro app will know how to use your library from other applications to synchronize as well. The decision to have a full app is more related to the university, as it is intended to teach students to program with python and qt with a more complicated project, including a lot of challenges to them, like media player, stylesheets, bigger architecture, etc. and as a result, it will deliver an application with better UI than other ones. But your comment is appropriate. I also think we need to deliver plugins for Amarok or Banshee, since our goal is not a new application on its on. Our goal is maemo synchronization.

But won’t media-syncing be just a plug-in in my favorite music manager?

Like Amarok or Banshee?

What would imho be more needed is contact syncronisation.
